Speech-Language Pathologist/Owner
Colleen was born and raised in the metro-St. John’s area and received her Master’s degree in Speech- Language Pathology from Dalhousie University in 1989.
Starting out as a sole charge clinician in Central NL, Colleen introduced and maintained speech and language services previously never provided in the area and in some cases the province. After moving back to the metro area, Colleen worked in all acute care and rehabilitation (public health care) facilities.
In 2001, Colleen ventured into private practice while on parental leave with a focus on early intervention with late-talking toddlers. In 2005, Colleen continued to grow her private practice focusing mainly on toddlers, preschoolers, and primary school children, leaving the public health system in mid-2006 delving full time into private practice.
In 2011, Colleen opened Red Door Hearing and Speech with her husband, Quenton, the first and still only privately owned speech and hearing clinic in the province.
Colleen has worked to support her profession and advocate for her clients over her entire career, sitting on provincial and national boards; providing education to ECEs, foster parents and Social Workers across the province; and mentoring and supervising future and professional SLPs. It is a joy and delight to support the communication needs of the people of this province.
